Stone and granite in particular is an excellent if somewhat expensive choice for countertops. Granite is an outstanding choice because maintenance is simple, and consists of a little more than wiping with a damp cloth and drying with a towel to prevent water spots. Use a mixture of mild dishwasher and warm water to clean stone countertops. Make sure that you don’t use lemon, vinegar or other acids and use a cloth or paper towel to clean the countertop.
Marble offers you pleasing looks, although it is on the expensive side. Plus maintenance can be a chore. A sturdier alternative is quartz. Twice as strong as granite, your quartz countertops are resistant to stains, more durable and need very little maintenance or resealing of any sort. Certain varieties of quartz come with sparkling accents that offer a chic look for your kitchen.
Other materials include soapstone and slate. Soapstone offers the greatest resistance to stains and spills. It’s a commonly used material in laboratories where spills are the order of the day. It can also take heavy duty traffic with ease. If you’re looking for a countertop professional in the Cincinnati area, we can help you get in touch with the best people in the industry. Hello, I am just starting to look into the process of updating our laminate countertops with something much nicer and more durable. I am most interested in granite, although I would be willing to look at other samples. The tile backsplash I want to install will have reds, tans, and ambers - the counter would need to coordinate. In measuring my existing counters, I am looking at a little less than 52 square feet of surface, 34.5 feet of edge, 1 double sink cutout, and an island (the edge and surface of the island is included in the calculations above). Based on this, I am looking for a company that can give me a basic quote to include installation. Thank you,
Jennifer H
